Within the frame of Adopt a Forest program, COSMOTE Romania plants the 2nd woods and will grow it for 5 years

Around 150 employees of COSMOTE Romania and Germanos are expected to take part as volunteers, on November 20^th, in probably one of the main reforestation actions of the year involving the planting of an entire forest nearby Ploiesti. The reforestation is part of the company's corporate responsibility program, named Adopt a Forest, launched in 2009.

Thus, on November 20^th, the team of volunteers form COSMOTE and Germanos will plant 10,000 baby oak trees on a surface of 20,000 square metres east of Ploiesti, with the support of MaiMultVerde Association and of the Administration of Public and Private Domain Ploiesti.

Moreover, the company, together with its partners, assumed the care and maintenance of the forest for the following 5 years - the period the trees require until reaching early maturity.

"We believe at COSMOTE that we have our share of responsibility for the future generations. Thus, planting trees and taking care of them, as well as taking other various initiatives to decrease the CO2 footprint of the company is an important part of our CR strategy, for which our colleagues volunteered with enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing this new step of <<Adopt a Forest>> program taking form on next Saturday", Ruxandra Vodă, Corporate Affairs Manager, COSMOTE România, said.

This is the second action of this kind, after a similar reforestation in 2009, which involved 100 volunteers amongst COSMOTE and Germanos employees who planted 5,000 trees in the Caciulati forest, nearby Balotesti, just north of Bucharest.

COSMOTE Romania is committed to environmental activities and programs which comprise, besides "Adopt a Forest", the "Green Office" programme aiming to educate COSMOTE employees to gather reusable materials such as paper and plastic, collection of waste of phones and accessories in COSMOTE and Germanos shops, returning of network equipment and base station batteries for recycling, reduction of water and energy consumption in offices, retails shops and network, ecological disposal of oils and lubricants etc.
